Dr. Donald C. Fournier, age 58, of Hooks, Texas died Saturday, February 9, 2008 at his residence. He was born April 16, 1949 in Lewiston, Maine. Dr. Fournier was a 1974 graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He was former president of the Texas Allergy, Asthma, Immunology Society (TAAIS), as well as past governor of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI), Region 5. Dr. Fournier was an active member in each of these organizations and both the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI), as well as the American Medical Association (AMA).Within academia, he was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Allergy Immunology in the Departments of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport. He also maintained a role as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Fournier was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, Medical Corp. He was activated in 1991 to serve his country in Desert Storm.
