Terry received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical School. He completed one year of allergy training at Ohio State and was drafted into the military as a Class-D physician and assigned as a staff at the WHMC Program. Upon completion of his commitment, he became board eligible for Allergy/Immunology boards (Should he be considered a Fellow?). He established a practice in Arlington, Texas for many years, but moved to Perth, Australia for the last 21 years of his life.

JOSEPH SAMS OBITUARY

SAMS, Dr. Joseph Terence “Terry” age 78, passed away on June 28th in Perth, West Australia. Terry is the son of the late Dorothy and J. Everett Sams Terry graduated from Middletown Senior High in 1953 as Valedictorian, graduated from Harvard University pre-med in 1957 and Cornell University Medical School in 1961. Terry was an Eagle Scout and served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, based in San Antonio. Dr. Sams practiced allergy medicine in Arlington, Texas for many years and moved to Perth 21 years ago. Terry is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Jeannette, his children Evan (Gwen), Richard, Philip, Valerie, and stepsons Mark (Michelle) and Justin (Karen). He was a beloved Opa to his grandchildren Natalie, Jessica, Nicole, Paige, Liam, Tom, Ben, Izzy and new grandchild Austin Terence. He is also survived by his brother Phillip R Sams of St. Louis, MO and Naples, FL, and his sister Dorothy Sams Healy of Chicago, IL and Naples, FL. and his first cousins, James Sticklen and Kay Sams Vonder Embse both of Middletown, OH.
