Pierre-Alain L. Dauby, MD

Dr. Dauby received a BA with a major in Biology from Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio, and his M.D. from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Hebert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. After medical school, he underwent five years of additional training in Internal Medicine and Adult – Pediatric Allergy / Immunology, both at the Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.

He was staff internist at the Wilford Hall Medical Center for a year, teaching internal medicine residents. He subsequently served as Chief of Allergy and Immunology at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. In 2005, he was sent by the USAF to RAF Lakenheath, England, where he was Chief of the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Clinic and the allergy/immunology consultant to the USAF European Command Surgeon General.

In 2008, he left the USAF and worked with an allergy group in Northern Virginia, near Washington DC. In 2011, he joined the Asthma Institute division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).

In July 2015, he decided to go out on his own and start his private practice Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Wellness Center, LLC. He sees patients in Murrysville and Greensburg. When he is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children, and eating good food. He writes about his culinary experiences on his blog goodgrubs.

Julie A. Davenport, MD

Dr. Julie Davenport joined Family Allergy & Asthma in 2022. She served as a physician in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years, attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. Dr. Davenport joined us after serving as Chief of Allergy/Immunology and immunizations at Royal Air Force Base Lakenheath England. She also served as the United States Air Force European Regional Allergy Consultant, where she provided oversight and expert medical direction for US Air Force and Naval facilities throughout Europe.

Dr. Davenport is a Kentucky native and earned her B.S. from Campbellsville University, her Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Louisville, and then her Medical Degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at Keesler Medical Center, and her fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the Uniform Service Health Education Consortium, San Antonio, TX.

Raised in Murray, KY, she enjoys spending time with family, reading and travel.

Jeffrey G. Demain, MD

Jeffrey G. Demain, MD, FCAAAI, FAAAAI, FAAP, began his medical career as a medic in the U.S. Air Force in 1972. Predominantly working in emergency services, he became a physician extender, the precursor to Physician Assistant, ultimately attaining the enlisted rank of MSgt. He attended one of the early Physician Assistant programs at Sheppard AFB and went on to be the OIC of Emergency Room at Reese AFB. He served as medical officer for Cuban refugees during the Mariel boatlift in 1980. Through the encouragement of physician mentors, he applied and was accepted into medical school at Texas Tech University in 1983. Upon graduation he did his residency at Wright State University, followed by A/I fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center. His first assignment out of fellowship was at MacDill AFB, where he served as HIV Train-the-Trainer and was honored to serve on the Air Force IG team. His final assignment was Elmendorf AFB, where he served as an Allergist Immunologist, a Flight Surgeon and Commander of the 3^rd Aeromedical Staging Facility. He retired after 24 years of service in 1999.

Dr Demain is a Clinical Professor at the University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, and an Affiliate Professor at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Dr. Demain founded the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Center of Alaska, the Allergy Asthma & Immunology Society of Alaska, and is a founding member Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America Alaska Chapter, where he is currently serving as president. He serves on the Board of Regents of the American College of Allergy Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI) and Board of Directors, American Board of Allergy Immunology (ABAI). He served on the AAAAI Board of Directors, served as RSL Governor-Region 6, and on many committees within both the AAAAI and ACAAI. He is a co-editor of the AAAAI “Ask the Expert” and a contributor to Up to Date. Committed to education, he served 10 years on the AAAAI Annual Meeting Planning Committee and now serves on the ACAAI Annual Meeting Programming Committee.

A nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Demain has over 50 peer-reviewed publications and three textbook chapters. His work has been cited over 2,000 times. He continues to research and publish in both insect allergy and the impacts of climate change on respiratory health. Recently, he was honored with Pacific Northwest University Health Science Teaching Recognition Award in 2019, the AAAAI-RSL Leadership award in 2020, the Alaska State Hospital & Nursing Home Champion award in 2021, and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Special Achievement Award in 2021.

NOTE: Jeffrey Demain is one of four “Mustangs” within our group of trainees. He took the ‘Truck Route’ to get to where he is.

Mustang is a military slang term used in the United States Armed Forces to refer to a commissioned officer who began their career as an enlisted service member (completing at least one service obligation contract) prior to commissioning as an officer, a limited duty officer (LDO), or chief warrant officer (CWO).

Jeffrey J. Dietrich, MD

Dr. Dietrich is board-certified in allergy, asthma and immunology in both pediatrics and adults. He received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from St. Louis University. Dr. Dietrich completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at Dayton Children’s Hospital in Dayton, OH. He then went on to complete his allergy and clinical immunology fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He is trained in all aspects of allergy, asthma and immunology.

Dr. Dietrich and his wife, Amy, a local pediatrician, both fell in love with the Charleston area when he was stationed at Charleston Air Force Base during his 10 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. After he completed his time in the Air Force and his allergy/immunology fellowship training, they could not wait to move their growing family back to the Charleston area.

Ronald W. England, MD

Dr. England is Board Certified by the American Board of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. England is licensed to practice medicine in the State of Washington. He received his BA degree from Brigham Young University followed by his medical degree from the Uniformed Service University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. After completing his Internal Medicine residency at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi he went to San Antonio, Texas for a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology. While in San Antonio he was selected for a one year fellowship in Clinical Laboratory Immunology at Wilford Hall Medical Center. After completing his fellowships he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Northern California for three years. Dr. England was honored to return to the Air Force’s only Allergy and Immunology Fellowship teaching program for the last four years of his military service. During his last year in the military he served as the Chief of Allergy and Immunology at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Dr. England joined Spokane Allergy and Asthma in July of 2010. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology.

Peter M. Freedman, MD

Peter M. Freedman, MD, received his undergraduate degree from Queens College in Flushing, New York and then attended the University of Wisconsin Medical School for his MD degree. He trained in Internal Medicine at Gundersen Clinic in Wisconsin before attending the University of New Mexico to study Immunology. His final year of training in Allergy/Immunology was at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA.

Dr. Freedman was a ‘Deferred Draftee’ for the USAF. He was assigned to the Allergy/Immunology Department at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in 1975. The Allergy/Immunology Training Program had been closed in 1974 and was in the process of applying for re-certification. Dr. Freedman was assigned to develop a laboratory to support this application and to expand the program from a strictly clinical to a combined academic/clinical status. Meaningful research was getting underway and “Pete” became involved in the effort to prove that chronic non-allergic forms of rhinitis existed. He was an effective teacher and was partially responsible for the dramatic interest in Allergy/Immunology by internal medicine residents during the 1970s.

Pete established the laboratory before the arrival of the class of fellows in 1976. Although he had a 2 year commitment to the USAF, he extended a year to improve the laboratory before entering the private sector in July, 1978.

Pete joined the Marshfield Medical Foundation in Wisconsin upon leaving the military and then established practices in Johnstown, PA, and Amarillo TX, before settling down for private practice in Phoenix, AZ. He, also, worked with the Phoenix Indian Health Service until his retirement. He has been retired from the practice of allergy since 2010.

Pete is an avid golfer and has taken advantage of the numerus golf courses in the Phoenix area.

Peter M. Freedman, MD

Colonel John F. Freiler currently serves as the Chief of Internal Medicine and Allergy/Immunology Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General, Air Force Medical Readiness Agency (AFMRA), Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), Texas. He is the primary advisor to the SG and subject matter expert for Internal Medicine, Subspecialty and Radiology services. He also informs decisions regarding the staffing, readiness, deployment, education, training and career counseling for over 350 physicians.

Colonel Freiler hails from New Jersey and completed his undergraduate studies in Biotechnology with honors in Biopsychology at William Paterson University, Wayne, NJ. After college he worked in a pharmaceutical immunoassay lab. He then entered the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and studied medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, New Jersey under the Health Professions Scholarship Program. He was recommissioned as a Captain upon his graduation in 1999. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Wright-Patterson Medical Center, Dayton, OH and Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC), San Antonio, Texas.

Colonel Freiler’s first assignment following training was as Staff Internist at McChord AFB, WA. Upon completion of fellowship training in San Antonio he served as Staff Allergist at David Grant USAF Medical Center. He then entered private practice as an Allergist with ENT and Allergy Associates, Parsippany, New Jersey prior to his recommissioning as Staff Allergist at Eglin USAF Regional Hospital, Eglin AFB, Florida. While there, he went on the serve as the Medicine Flight Commander, Associate Chief of the Medical Staff and OIC of the Allergy and Immunization clinic. Colonel Freiler returned to the San Antonio area where he served as the Clinical Core Faculty for the SAUSHEC Allergy and Immunology Fellowship GME program and Allergy and Immunizations Flight Commander at JBSA Lackland, Texas. Prior to entering the Air Force, he served in the US Army New Jersey National Guard as an Aircraft Electrician, Picatinny Arsenal, Wharton, NJ.

Upon military retirement Col Freiler will be entering solo medical practice as the founder of Advanced Allergy SA located in San Antonio, TX. He looks forward to enjoying time with his family, living a healthy lifestyle and keeping active. His favorite hobbies include working out with “the bands”, mountain biking, hiking and reading his monthly National Geographic magazine subscription.
